A little rain could not dampen our enthusiasm as we enjoyed the beautiful Varosliget in Budapest with our Magyar friend. We first admired the Vajdahunyad Castle and the bronze statue of Anonymous, the royal scribe who wrote the "Gesta Hungarorum". A short walk through the park brought us to the Edwardian-era grandeur of the Szechenyi Baths and the Art Nouveau-style Budapest Zoo. Photos taken by me on June 23rd, 2009.

  • Very nice work, guys, as usual. One thing I was wondering, however, assuming that you took a western camera, probably a digital cam, how did you manage to keep its battery charged? Since the electric current is different in Europe than it is here in the west, this has presented a dilemnma for me.

Keep up the good work, Neal and Mike! 5***** / Favorites / Playlist: "HUNGARY"

  • That's an excellent question, Attila. When we went shopping for a new camera just before our trip, I had two major requirements... it must use AA batteries and it must have superior optical zoom. Unfortunately, many new cameras have built-in rechargeable batteries, so they are not very convenient outside of the USA.

3500 photographs later, I am happy to report that we are very pleased with the performance and the quality of our new Fujifilm Finepix S1500.

  • Nice :-)

Did you go in to the zoo as well or you stayed outside?

How many pictures have you taken Neil,it seems like you've taken a lot:-)

  • I didn't take that many photos... only around 3400 :)

Unfortunately, we didn't have time that day to actually go in to the zoo... perhaps next year.

  • Nice photos about the Városliget.

    Who was with you??

How many times did you visit Budapest??

  • Koszonom! It was our first trip to Budapest and we were with Mr Demon.
