County Commission Chairman Rory Reid today announced a groundbreaking public-private partnership to explore opportunities to transform University Medical Center into a top-flight teaching hospital and reduce county subsidies. Reid announced that noted business leader and former higher education chancellor Jim Rogers will spearhead the effort, examining successful models from across the country and bringing partners to the table from education, the medical community and the private sector. Commissioner Steve Sisolak, a former regent of the university system, praised the move, as did Chancellor Dan Klaich and Board of Regents Chairman James Dean Leavitt.
