Miss McNair was very versatile and had success with this single. She would have gone on to become one of the companys brightest stars had she been pushed and developed. I nsteadd her recordings were left to collect dust in the vaults .Her recordings of Smokey Robinson songs are incredible. Her OH BE MY LOVE is the best version on record.

Barbara was wasted at Motown they had no idea of the what to do with this precious gem of talent they possesed and never developed her potential. They squandered the talents of Leslie Uggams, and Diahann Carroll also. The Smokey material and this song shows what appeal McNair had to a 60's early 70's pop audience . The song was a hit and others would have followed had anyone bothered to give McNair some attention and care. She was neglected and ignored.

She passed away in 2007...

Black or white, who the fuck cares! The song is totally amazing and one of Motown's and Northern Soul's iconic trax. Have it on first-release demo!!!! Sad, sensitive and so, so beautiful! NRGrules.
