Parole officers have visited murder suspect Oscar Pistorius on his first day of freedom after being released on bail.

The South African paralympian has taken refuge in his uncle's home, as he is not allowed to return to his own house.

The family of Reeva Steenkamp, who Pistorius is accused of shooting dead, have reportedly received a card and flowers from the athlete's family.

Steenkamp's father has told a newspaper that Pistorius "will have to live with his conscience".

On the streets of Pretoria, there has been a mixed reaction to the magistrate's bail decision.

This case has been making headlines around the world all week.

South African journalist Andre-Pierre Du Plessis has been closely following the trial.

He spoke to Al Jazeera about the case from New York.
