Song written at IMAEast , May 2007 ~ a Taylor T5 guitar writes it through June Millington. It was then recorded raw as a songwriting demo, and she's joined by Lee Madeloni on drums a year later - and a few months after that by his mom Jean Millington, on bass. Mixed by Lee and June, November 2008.
This song has a strong spirit, and a "voice" that June didn't recognize as her own as it came through, although all the sentiments are those that she agrees with completely, and seem to resonate beyond boundaries

June and Jean were born and raised in the Philippines just after WWII. Their dad was a Lt Commander in the US Navy (graduate of Annapolis), and their mom was a native Filipina from Lian, Batangas and Manila ~ John Millington and Yolanda Limjoco. Both had seen many terrible things, and their children heard about them and saw the immediate aftermaths of the war. It was truly terrible.
June and Jean were also co-founders, and in, the group Fanny.

  • to all who have commented ~ my appreciation. "Terrible Things" is one of those songs that just "showed up", and it means a lot to me. I feel feel like it's more than just my voice and my guitar(s) that are speaking, you know? And we are playing it live! We'll be at the Goodman Community Center in Madison, WI next , on Nov 12th. Make it if you're anywhere in the area, this could be our last gig in 2011!
