A Smart Meter outside a home in Oak Park, IL on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at approximately 4:00 p.m.

The GE Smart Meter, installed by ComEd (Commonwealth Edison), communicates usage data on this home to the utility via a wireless antenna, across a mesh network. This was recorded with a Gigahertz Solutions High frequency Analyzer model HF35C, which detects Radio Frequencies in the range of 800 MHz to 2.5 GHz. The Audio Analysis from the analyzer shows, per Gigahertz Solutions website, "Identification of pulsed radiation sources (mobile radio (GSM, UMTS/G3), cordless telephones (DECT), WLAN (Bluetooth), air-traffic control-radar) by means of an acoustic signal proportional to the modulation frequency."

When the meter shows a 1 on the far left of the display, and makes a loud sound, it has exceeded 2000 microwatts per sq. meter. This video shows RF levels nearing or exceeding 2000 microwatts per square meter approximately 5 times in 2 minutes, at these times in the video:

0:55
2:08
2:13
2:27
2:35

Another spike (#6) occurred around 15 seconds turning off the videorecorder.

For those concerned about their health, safe levels of electromagnetic frequencies, which emit radiation, are at readings of 5 microwatts per square meter or less. 2000 is 400 times the safe level.
