A shame that it had to come to an end. Edmonton hasn't had near that kind of success in years but there is always hope.
The young talent on their team now looks promising.

@MrLCLM Here in Boston, bruin fans I talk to are greatful that they did not have to face this Edmonton Team. As great as Tim Thomas was, we know he would have not stopped the Oilers. He would have faced many shots and been off balance the whole game. Oilers speed would have been to much for Vancouver or Boston.

This IMO is the ultimate game to watch in the Oilers' dynasty. Philadelphia finished 33 games over .500 that season. They steamrolled everyone they faced and the Oilers blew them up in this game. If people ever want to get an idea of how truly dominant the dynasty Oilers could be, I tell them to watch a replay of this game. Absolutely incredible domination.

@19keel25 I think they changed it back to 2-2-1-1-1 after this because the NHL thought it gave the team with 3 straight home games an unfair advantage. In both years in which the NHL did the 2-3-2 the team that got the 3 home games was the Oilers and they were 6-0 on home ice. I think that had more to do with how good the Oilers were than anything else.

Know how good the Oilers were in 85? Flyers had a league best *113* points and they got blasted in *5* games.

The late Dan Kelly called the action for CTV back then...a rarity when CTV got to telecast the Stanley Cup Finals, an honour CBC usually has every other year since TV first came to Canada back in 1952...and Canada will celebrate sixty years of TV broadcasting come 2012.
