HTML 5 is an amazing technology because it performs faster than Flash, and it doesn't require a plugin to run. This means that animations using HTML 5 can run on, virtually, any modern web browser, on any modern OS. This can even be used on touch devices such as iPhone and iPad. In this video, I use Hype to show you how to make a simple animation, how to make a simple interactive button, and how to put it all together.

  • is html 5 still in beta? or can i buy it somewhere?

  • @TheAlienpope If you have a modern computer, then you already have it.

  • Long live flash! Long live flash! Long live flash! Long live flash!

But HTML5 is pretty awesome, but still..

LONG LIVE FLASH! LONG LIVE FLASH! LONG LIVE FLASH!

  • @AdamantSystems Long live Flash? Yeah, how's that workin' for you? Microsoft ditched so much Flash, Apple ditched Flash (years ago), so many website are using HTML5 now, and even Adobe has Flash to HTML5 converters and HTML5 builders. Adobe knows their Flash platform sucks.

  • @AdamantSystems Even YouTube uses HTML5 now. They have a Flash option, but they use HTML5.

  • @TheAlienpope lol you noob even said that html5 is better for animating without even knowing what it is.

  • @TheAlienpope lol html5 is s coding language, a upgraded version of eg. xhtml, php. if you didnt know that, maybe this sort of stuff isnt your thing

  • @Hildron101010 Im not a fanboy of any technology. I develop content in different technologies. At this moment, Flash is many years infront of html5. Its faster, uses less resources, easier to build, has more support, stronger code, offers native hardware 3d rendering, ...

However I don't see the two as strictly competing technologies. Html5 will no doubt take over the simpler tasks, being a platform for video and basic animations. Flash will stay and grow as the dominant RIA platform.

  • @Hildron101010 Thanks for the video. But your love for html5 has clouded your judgement. Html5 is way slower than Flash. It is in fact way slower than the first version of Flash. True that it doesn't require a plugin, but most browser have that plugin, on the other hand the support for html5 is still low.

Microsoft ditched Flash? Yes, but only to change to Silverlight which is again plugin based. Flash is here to stay and Adobe has already developed it to levels html5 might never reach.

  • @Hildron101010 oh right.. lol.. but u mean modern web browser i'm guessing (i have the newest version of chrome btw). but how do i acces the animator and stuff like that?

  • @stikanator html5

  • Great video. Thanks.

  • @Hildron101010 I meant Flash, like the software. That people use. For animations, not others. That's how that's working for me.
