  • lads, question? ill be getting my SPA ( rock climbing instructorship ) and my mountain leader award. both qualifications RM offer. just wondering can i carry that knowledge into my training as a recruit or do i have to wait two years to choose it as a specialisation?

if that makes sense? cheers lads.

  • @maizematt For Recon you don't have to have experience, but the majority usually do a lateral move after they have been in for a while. So for guys like me that are able to go straight into training, you are put into Recon Battalion, or pretty much the reserve and after a while you can be put on the Force Recon teams.

Also, I didn't mention the 2 week indoctrination process or the multi-month training platoons you are put in before your actual Recon training.

  • @Armageddon0mega I did not mention the fact you have to do 2 years service as a regular marine then you pick a specialist

  • @maizematt Yeah since that comment I actually got 0321, or Reconnaissance Man contract, and so basically in order to become a Recon Marine you have to go through the 13 week bootcamp, 8 week SOI / ITB training, and then the 10 week Basic Reconnaissance Course (BRC). After that you receive additional specialization such as airborne, scout sniper, combat diver, etc. and then will receive "on-site" training after that.

So Recon Marines--not regular Marines--are on par with the Royal Marines.

  • @Armageddon0mega Not unless they do 32 weeks training mate. USMC is good but not as good as the Green Beret

  • can not wait till i can go in the army just 2 years away

  • I passed my PRMC on sunday.

  • I'm interested to see if I will ever get to meet any Royal Marines. I ship next July 1st for U.S. Marine infantry, and from there I will be given an opportunity to become a Force Recon or Force Battalion Marine. Force Recon Marines are pretty much the equivalent of Royal Marines.

  • @Kapov No mate you are a fucking idiot, if he has found something worth living and dying for good on him, most people are so wrapped up in their own pathetic 9-5's that they forget some people are actually proud to be a part of something and do things most people can only experience through and TV.

  • @cmoz88 lol you're an idiot
