***GET FREE RAPID (20 MIN.) HIV TESTING @ APICHA AND GET A $20 MOVIE THEATER GIFT CARD!!***
Created by APICHA (The Asian & Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/AIDS), this PSA is meant to bring awareness to issues that affect gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and questioning Asian & Pacific Islander young men. Without intervention, the stress from their family, friends, and community can increase their risk for HIV and STDs. In fact, we're already seeing the damage: API young men who have sex with men (aged 13-24) have experienced the largest proportionate increase [255.6% (EAPC = 30.8)] in HIV infections between 2001-2006 (from the MMWR Weekly Report: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5725a2.htm)
This PSA will be featured at the Angelika Film Center (18 West Houston St.
@ Mercer St, NYC) before the trailers on each of their screens for every showing until October 3rd. (Thank you, Angelika!)
Please support our effort to reduce the epidemic already ravaging our community!

APICHA, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1989 in response to the AIDS epidemic in New York City. The mission of APICHA is to combat HIV/AIDS stigma and related discrimination, to prevent the spread of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Asian & Pacific Islander communities, and to provide care and treatment for Asian & Pacific Islanders living with HIV/AIDS and their families.
The mission of the YMSM (Young Men who have Sex with Men) Project is to combat AIDS-related discrimination, and to support, empower, and enhance the quality of life of Asian & Pacific Islander YMSM in New York City, New Jersey, and Long Island. Through education, training, community outreach, coalition-building, and research, we promote and uphold the ideals of sexuality and sexual health and the acceptance of API YMSM. We offer further assistance to young queer and questioning youth through EquAsian, our social and support youth-led group.
Our PSA was created by the amazingly talented Kanokon Sookaram (http://www.youtube.com/user/Kanokon). Music was composed by Christopher Waller.
