my grandpa just retired from Oracle about 4 years ago, he had a phd from Purdue in Computer Engineering,...i've never heard of Oracle working on anything but computer stuff...but you never know i guess..he went to russia a few times, but he said it was to work on computers at a bank..

IMO you are sidetracked by what the tool is being used for. Of course the budget-unbounded .gov is going to use the most costly software. IMO, you should focus instead on the company origins, funding, personnel. That's most telling. Today, chemical / genome databases use all kinds of technologies, including open source, so what tools are being used for Evil is not so compelling.

Oracle software can almost literally do anything - and it DOES. The company does not.
