  • This is from October 29th 1960 . . . this and the edition a fortnight later (Nov 12th) are the only known surviving editions from the David Jacobs era.

  • Thanks so much. I watched this avidly as a child, but how memory distorts things. At the time, it was one of the only shows on TV where you could hear pop records. How slow and dreary it seems now. Pete Murray was OK, that actor guy, but those two women - Stuck-up, musical snobs, trying to belittle the music, the artists, the arrangements etc but also the studio audience. These were women in their 40s, brought up on jazz, swing etc Also, hard to believe David Jacobs was only 34 at the time

  • I love the way Carmen McRae is sat there smoking away quite the thing :) and this went out at 5.00pm on a Saturday evening lmao x.

  • Both Roy Orbison and Connie Francis became greats in show buisiness.

  • Gee..this panel was off. My Heart has A Mind of Its Own by Connie Francis went straight to #1 and Roy Orbison was also a big hit.
