A look at some of the "Rivers that run through" the Missoula area in western Montana, including Rock Creek, Bitterroot River, Blackfoot River and the Clark Fork, where anglers catch rainbow trout, brown trout, mountain whitefish and even squawfish. For other great fly fishing resources, visit http://flyfishing.about.com where I blog about fly fishing almost daily!

It is pretty pathetic that you bring up food choices such as being a vegetarian, vegan or eating meat. This is a fly fishing video, leave your tree hugging comments out of it. Just because you go fly fishing, doesn't mean you eat the fish. I fish for sport most of the time and will eat a trout occasionally. No harm in that.

Hey, I am looking to move to Missoula in the next few years. Do any of you guys know if these rivers turn up results hen fishing without a fly pole? I'm used to using a spinning reel/pole and was wondering if these fish bite bait, lures or spinners.

Ninety percent of the trout have vanished since the fifties, those that remain tend to be heavily contaminated with mining effluent. I was born in Missoula, lived through over 50 years of assaults, rapes, drug rackets, embezzlements. As an AOL journalist put it, "wide open spaces dotted with sordid little human outposts filled with drugs, alcohol and cigarettes." Denial is an ugly thing, but the countryside is still beautiful indeed, though far from what it once was.
