(June 13, 2011) Independent filmmaker Katherine Brooks stopped by Red River today for a hastily organized, solely "social media"-promoted, single screening of her film LOVING ANNABELLE (2006) and discussion of her current project FACE2FACE, for which she and her crew are traveling to 50 states to meet people who responded to a facebook post promising a visit. FACE2FACE will take a powerful look at the relationships which form through social media and the real people reaching out through social media to overcome loneliness or other challenges.
Brooks described her commitment to living outside of herself and determination to tell others, as the bracelets she distributes say, "You are not alone."
Among those in attendance was Jennifer Elizabeth, her NH subject in FACE2FACE, who asked RRT to host the screening, which was held around regular programming at Red River Theatres. The stockings shown off in the opening of this video by Brooks were a gift from Jennifer Elizabeth.
Initial funding for Face2Face was raised using the website kickstarter.com, and unexpected expenses will require a second fundraising effort.
