I was somewhat worried about the landing speed.
BTW it would help simplify things on the shuttle-c CLV.
It would remove the issue of the escape tower being in the shock path of the ET and make the stack's aerodynamics closer to the shuttle.

That does not mean that it is great to have a backup. Two working launch abort systems is better than one. The best concept will be selected for the final Orion Spacecraft.

That would be fine if they were truly interchangeable. In reality, the design of the launch abort system is coupled to the design of the other systems on Orion. If you change at the last minute, a lot of things will have to be reworked. Also, MLAS still has a long ways to go before it can be considered a working system.
