tribal dancers showing how they use to worship the mother who they have now connected as the virgin mary. The Basilica de Guadeloupe is the location of the appearance of the Virgin to an Indian man. He went to the priest to give him a message that the Virgin wanted a temple built to her. but because the man called the virgin mary by the native name for the mother he didn't believe him and told him to bring proof. the man was told by the virgin to go into the mountains and collect the roses that were blooming in the dead of winter and bring them back to the priest. As the man laid the roses out his robes had been stained with the image of the Virgin. the natives saw the references to their culture depicted in the miracle and believed that it was a a sign to connect the two beliefs. So the priest let the natives worship in their way.
