@AssassinVenice There is nothing wrong with the controls now or when these games were released. You seem to be comparing them to today's standards which in comparison the controls are sub par. Am I right in assuming you have played the newer generation of Tomb Raider before the older ones?
The original Tomb Raider games set a new standard of control system in gaming, fact! An appreciation of the age & evolution of game engineering is what matters - the controls are certainly not horrible!

The lack of music and sound quality in older 3D games like this gave it more of a sense of horror, i think thats why the original resident evil and silent hill games are so popular
