I was asked by another view to do some video's on some questions he had but gear the video's totally for new and novice riders. So this is the first video of my "The Novice Series" which is going to be 3 parts of many video's.

This is the maintenance video's pt 3. Talking about engine oil, coolant and also lights and making sure they work properly.

  • Its actually not good to run full synthetic oil in a bike, especially the newer model sportbikes because of the wet clutch.........its good to run synthetic but just a blended one...

  • Why you can't use antifreeze on race track?

  • @Tvinky water evaporates and is easy to clean up and does not leave the track surface fouled like slick. Antifreeze will leave the track surface slick and does not fully clean up unless you plan on taking a power washer to it. 

  • Debate on engine oil? Whaaaat? Noooooo =P I'd run AMSOil if anyone around me sold it. I run Mobil 1 instead.

  • @DarkNinja75 haha, jesus don't do that on here then there will be 500 posts and a huge oil debate lol. But really the only reason I ran AMSOIL is because it was cheaper than Mobil 1 because I still had the membership thing by like 3 or 4 dollars a quart, and I only had to drive 3 miles to pick it up.

  • @Pittimus84 thanks for explaining (I thought so too, but wanted to be sure).

  • @Pittimus84 I remember my ZRX kept slipping the clutch and going into neutral almost every time I went out for a ride. I then switched to Amsoil and it cured it right up. I swear to that stuff now. Most people here use Motul.

  • Amsoil all the way (10W40 here too as per manual). Now my bike runs much cooler thanks to the new oil (was Motul full synthetic before).

    Doing the coolant next (1 part concentrate 2 parts distilled water). Unfortunately kawi likes to put the filler under the tank, so you have to remove the tank fill it up then put the tank back on, run the bike till the fan kicks in for a bit, take off the tank and make sure it's filled to the top again.
