Some sick lines by Illmac & Thesaurus. You can tell they were freestyling aswell, nowadays battling is pathetic, everything is written so it just becomes a role playing exercise.

Everyone keep sayin "we need actual freestyle battles to come back!" but dont c that if they do come back they wont be as NEARLY as nice as it was. battles like this set the standard what excellent off-the-tops are supposed to sound like so at the time it sounded amazing, but MCs nowadays look up to them and try to be as nice as Illmac & pete yet lack originality, ruining their skill. no1 as original or skillful off the top as guys who wuld compete in Scribblejam, only a small handful nowadays.

Damn we need more rap battles like this, I miss these sort of days. Bring it back, GrindTime, KOTD, Don't Flop, anyone, I don't care what league, just start doing tournaments with a freestyle format where opponents don't know who they're battling the day of rapping.
