April 20, 2011, San Francisco CA: A few hundred protesters mobilized by many organizations protested in the cold rain outside the Masonic Auditorium where Barack Obama led a Democratic Party fundraiser to kick off his re-election campaign.
World Can't Wait's Stephanie Tang gave this speech:
"......and hopefully, there are some people inside that building [auditorium where Obama was speaking] who can hear us. Because I want to speak especially to those people -- who watched the crimes under George Bush. Who watched the wars, and the torture, and the indefinite detention, and the wholesale slaughter of a million people in Iraq.
These things that were crimes under George Bush are crimes under Obama. War crimes are war crimes. War criminals should be brought to justice! Guantánamo is still open. There is a new war on Libya. Yes, we have a Black president -- and he's bombing North Africa -- get it?
If you are inside this building and you are supporting, with money, the man who's going to run for president on the Democratic ticket -- you are supporting with your money war crimes, and there is blood on his hands as he shakes your hand at the dinner table tonight.
It's worse and it's worser, and like we've been talking about since March 19 when we were all out in the streets all over this country denouncing yet another anniversary of this bloody, immoral, illegitimate inhuman war -- war crimes are war crimes. And it's getting worse and worser under your Democratic Party.
But it doesn't have to be like this. All it takes is enough people to rise up in resistance, here and all over this world -- to not allow those who rule this country, this empire, to continue on their murderous path. And again: to bring them to justice.
So we say these things tonight in the name of the people of the world. That's who we stand with -- not with the war criminals. And we don't care if they call themselves the "Not Bush".
Obama, Obama: there's blood on your hands -- from Iraq and Libya to Afghanistan. Stop the wars now, stop the torture, stop the indefinite detention, close Guantánamo! The world can't wait!
Ron Paul would have been a better choice lets face it folks
