  • Nope. This guy didn't get it. I respect your right to have a different opinion than mine, but your comments make me roll my eyes. Its very clear you did not get it, or tried to.

  • @evinado1 - 1) I'm not a "guy", I'm right here. No need to speak in the 3rd-person, it's very rude.

    2) No, I "got" it... it was just insufferably boring. This movie has SIX minutes of black, sans music. I'm sorry, but the absence of all sound/video is not something anyone needs to "get" for art's sake - it is just pretentious, and selfish.

  • i respect that some people think that no dialogue is boring, to me its inspirational, because thats what space is really like, theres no sound. And the slow movie and confusing plot bit, if they made a movie of all four books, people would understand it more.

  • @MinersIIAnonymous - The lack of dialogue isn't what made it boring though.

  • I'm impressed. You pretty much nailed those reviews. :)

  • @ditzwill - Very glad you enjoyed it. Hope you stick around and watch some more.

  • 2001 isn't for everyone, but I personally love it. To some its slow and boring, but to others there's a lot of meaning beyond it. It's worth watching just for the score, visuals, and it's impact on the pop culture and the world of cinema. I can't tell if you'll like or not, but as with all films you just have to watch to decide for yourself. 10/10

  • i hate seeing people dismiss 2001 as something they don't "get." it's not like all you have to do is flip switch in your brain and suddenly you love the movie. liking 2001 requires building up an understanding and appreciation for art. you're like a five year old standing in front of the mona lisa. who's gonna love the painting more, the child or an art connoisseur? if a five year old saw 2001 he'd be bored out of his mind! what's the difference between the child and an adult philistine?

  • oh..btw.

i bet you hate "Melancholia" too..^^

  • 2001 rarely had a moment that could give it a 'dated' look. Considering all the films before it, it broke ground... Kubrick pulled off things that the only living person could do is either Coppola or Fellini. Hitchhikers missed the mark for me, Rockwell & Mos Def carried the movie, Bill Nigh came in a tie with Milakovitch; their character really needed more liberation than the original story would permit. Sci-fi suffers from too much production concerns and not enough character exposition.

  • Grrr "our job" not "out"

  • So I watched 2001when I was 7yrs old and didn't get the ending. At 7, I said okay, I'm a kid my brain hasn't matured enough perhaps as a adult i'll get it. Once an adult I still didn't get the ending. Stanley Kubrick said in an interview a few years before he passed, that if you understand the ending then "we didn't do out job". Hahah art as it's finest. Art is challenges you to think!

  • You need to cover the movie MOON!!!! :D
