@MrBobbysmithinhouser I would say that most hunters certainly don't want to kill all the deer. We provide better habitat so that we have 'more' deer and harvest a few. I want to see more every year...that goes for all game animals. We shoot a few and try to provide the habitat for more to live. Thanks for the great comment!

dont they know that the reason they are here and are able to post such comments is from eating meat that hunters have hunted!!! meat is the whole reason our brain developed into what it is today!!! maybe those veggies dont have the proteins your brain needs to develop a good opinion about hunting!!!! dont murder the carrots you veginators!!!

the lefties plant carrots and hug tree right??? but dont they eat carrots and deposit there checks on paper??? my guess is that they do!!! so why cant they understand that when a hunter plants a food plot that the rest of the forest benefits from it to, from squirrels, rabbits , ground hogs, ect even other plants benefit from it!! so why is it bad for us as hunters to shoot to eat?? most of the people that give us hell about hunting are vegetarians..

@jtschid0910 I've shot them as far as 40 yards but I never want that shot. I like to get shots in the 15-20 yard range, but the past couple years I've had to shoot farther than that...32 yards last year(2010).
You said that you bought a climbing stand specifically for state land because people wouldn't be able to steal it. What brand of climber is that? I to have a climber that I would trek in and out of the woods every time I would hunt.

@jtschid0910 Mine is a Lone Wolf. I wanted a stand that was light and flat so I could carry it through the thick stuff without making too much noise or working up a sweat. I love it...they are expensive but I figured I would only need one. I'm using it more and more ever year.

How many deer have you lost to a questionable shot? I took a shot yesterday, found the arrow covered in tallow, and not very much blood when we were tracking.

@jtschid0910 I've lost a few over the years. I've learned to be very patient before tracking. With a poor shot I'll wait at least 6 hours before looking. It also helps to know "safe spots" the the deer head to...sometimes tracking a wounded deer will lead you through those spots. If you do not find the deer it probably survived. They are very strong and clot quickly. Glad to hear you had some adventure...if it's down the crows might tip you off. Pay attention to them. Good luck!

Compared to hunting shows on networks you are the most ethical hunters I've seen. And they get paid!! There will always be folks who don't understand hunting at all and that sometimes it's as simple as the food chain. And there will always be hunters who suck killing only for horns, etc. and not caring at all if they made a bad much less looking for the animal. Thank you for teaching your son values that are seriously lacking in today's society.
