  • @CoolDudeClem The various stages of amplification in a regular radio set tend to degrade the signal somewhat, the high end being sacrificed for the sake of selectivity (the ability to seperate one station from another). This type of receiver just takes the signal right from the antenna and the suimple tuned circuit and passes it through the crystal to the headphones or amplifier. No degradation, you hear it just exactly as it's transmitted, full bandwidth.

  • This sounds really good. How come non-crystal am radio receivers just sound muddy with no high frequencies, but crystal radios seem to sound much better? I mean, I can actually hear high frequncy sounds like cymbals and the letter S though this one.

  • I am 56 years old and I remember how much fun it was to lay in bed at night listening to my crystal radio (circa 1964).....I had a "Tiny Tim" crystal radio and I remember paying a dollar for it.

  • Beautiful xtal radio setup!

  • Wow so cool - brings back so many memories of my Radio Shack kit that I got in 1979 and had a crystal radio project in it. These days kids take technology for granted and have no idea how this stuff works. Awesome video!! :)

  • Great job ! ! ! Congratulations !

  • Great video, beautiful radio! This video inspired me to start building crystal radios again.
