Hi Warbirdfan66 Im not sure what is FOREX, and where can I get some . Is it a sheet and do you cut it out and glue it together? The ones you show in your video look like they are molded, the look awesome. the hobby stories do not know what I am talking about.

@jeffrp40 Hi, forex is PVC rigid foam material, its sold here in europe under that name, you can get it as a sheet, plate or block, but maybe is has a different name in the US. And gearmounts are not molded, they were milled. But as i said you can use different techniques or materials for that, like wood or polystyrolplates and glue them together as you suggested, that should work too.

@jeffrp40 And here another thing, the version you saw in this video is not the latest one, never made a video about the changes i made because of the testresults on the field. For once i went back to smaller wheels, about 63mm, changed the forwardrake of the gear and therefore the angle in which it is installed in the plane or cartrige. I also put it into the wing in a different angle. These changes are not required if you have a tarmac landingstrip or something similar.

@jeffrp40 thanks for your comment, and im gald that you like the mod. I build one or two sets for buddies of mine but never sold them, they are handmade, and (selling) sending them you would be kind of expensive because im from Europe and the postage alone would probably kill you ;). I do have a print or more like a crude sketch which i could sent you if you like, i cant guarantee it will help you a lot but well at least you have a start.

@cscenterprises ...sure i did, and yes they work fine on the P-51...with the flaps at approx. 30° she needs some down elevator, about 4% in my case...with trottle on idle she comes in very slow for a nice soft landing...but i had to change the retracts again, didnt had enought forward rake, but thats because our landing strip here is very bumpy

Did you ever complete the flaps installation? If so, does it help the flight characteristics? I am really interested in doing the same mod.

Beautiful plane. You're doing a great job on it. I own the PZ Mustang and BF-109 and my son has the PZ F4F. We love them all. I'm customizing my P-51 to a blue-nose but it will stay a belly lander. I plan to add weathering effects as a final touch and just looking at yours gives me a few ideas. Thanks for the video.

@SHADOW10621 maybe i should do that, documenting a complete makeover, could do that on my next plane, cant hurt to show a few things , and doing more then just a few pics. And you are right, i like this hobby, to much fun not to care, this stuff never get boring :), working on my FMS Spit as i write this, have to say that its raining cats and dogs here, so i finished the long overdue overhauling of my Spits gear, and while im at it i put splitflaps in, not sure if they work but we will see :)

@WarbirdFan66 We all get lost in our work if we have a passion for it. You should have a channel with all your modifications even the airbrushing and detail work. You would quickly develop a following especially with young modelers. I wasn't being negative about the cartridges, you built them so perfectly that they looked vacuum formed. Amazing. Your good at building stuff because you practiced and you care, not because you are German. Look forward to more videos Shadow

@SHADOW10621 -i allways think about making a video to document my work, but then i start working and i kind of forget all the other stuff around and so i end up with a few pic inbetween, and im not an engineer, just a mechanic with a few year of rc-modelling under his belt, so thanks for your comment, and the cartidges are not vacuum formed, they are all single pieces, glued and screwed together...i like it when the things i build look neat, guess thats where my german heritage kicks in :D

You need to seriously think about making complete videos of your mods. The cartridge you made looks better than anything you could buy at a hobby shop. It looks cacuum formed. You're installation was so clean it looked like it was factory. Are you an engineer or what ?

@Mk4Thumper i case of the P-51 i used a dvd-marker, but i dont use pens for all the planes, in some cases i used paint (vallejo model colors) and a normal brush or my airbrush, depending on what kind of effect i want.

What kind of pen did you use for the panel lines? I want to make sure I don't melt anything.

@RyanWehr ...it is a very good plane, i agree, and i have to say i dont own a T-28 either, but there is a little F4F Wildcat in my hangar an i think if u could take her for a spin you might not be that sure that the P-51 is the only contender for the best Parkzone-Plane-Award :) thanks for watching

@th3dud3007 ..im glad you enjoyed the video, and im sorry but the retract casings are selfmade, so u have to get back to your workbench. They are made out of Polystyrol and Forex PVC rigid foam boards. I have to say that i was not really happy with the first version of the retracts in put in. Mostly because they did not work very good on grass. The wheels need much more forward rake, so im working on version two right now...btw the flaps work very good on this bird... have fun moding your Plane

Nice video...once again. I was wondering i plan on doing the same (extra wing with flaps and or retracts) My question for you is, how or where did you get the casing for the retracts to sit in and have such a clean look? thanks for sharing!
