Back cross-rolls - hope you can see that I pull the skating shoulder back when switching feet; it is similar to back power-pull action.

  • Wow amazing. Wait do you skate at the rink in west orange, Nj?......can you post your pre juvenile moves by any chance?

  • I skate there sometimes during the summer, and very occasionally at other times.

Don't really have much pre-juv moves recorded, but there are 5-step mohawks posted.

  • Looking good! When I do backward crossrolls, it's very "noisy" (scratchy sounds on the ice, definitely not from toepicks), do you find that to be the case for you as well?

  • If you are talking about the ripping sound - that sound is good, it's caused by the pressure on the edge (I do have quite a bit of rip on these).

  • HEY!!! I didn't see you look behind you 'til the very end!!! I was half wishing I was right behind you just to see if you can see me making funny faces or something...LOL!!! :P

Otherwise, yeah, I see that your shoulders are being pulled back! I always wished I had your flow on those. *sigh* Someday...

  • I didn't say I always look behind me :P but that trick did help my friend to figure out what to do with the shoulders.

  • very smooth (y) i'm having difficulty with this move, especially trying to get speed :( any tips?

  • NICE!!

I like the smoothness and flow in your cross roll!! you really have nice bouncing knee....very soft ;)

    nice posture too!! WOW ;)

  • Yes, but I wonder why the rips are only there for the backward and not forward strokes/rolls. I get them doing backward crossovers as well. None of my forward crossrolls or crossovers have that sound (or at least, I can't hear any) and there is just as much pressure or lean on the edge(s). Very strange!

  • I consider cross strokes and rolls to be the same thing. The difference between now and 2006: better edges and more lean :) the more lean you have, the easier it is to put that foot down (I had a "duh" moment about 1.5 months ago that made a big difference in how they feel). I've seen others mention the technique of putting the foot down before crossing, but haven't actually seen anyone do it, either.
