Thank you for the input. It didn't really hit me until I was watching your videos that a Goliath might have been the suspect. Just always thought of them as structure fish but then I remembered that they live and grow up in different environments and that they don't spend every waking moment of their lives in one spot. lol Thank you again. Bigger reel being used in the future, don't like to at least know what I had.

My question really should have been, is there much chance a Jewfish would be just cruising along the bay instead of staying in their usual structure?

@ShadowBmx1995 hey if your fshing for those then a good rod is a carrot stick with a pennreel capitivia wish u luck
Love your videos. Trying to make an educated guess on a mystery fish. Small pier on Tampa Bay. Caught shark and big Tarpon previously. Hooked something that just kept going, running steady along the seawall. Not a massive reel, so I never really stopped it till the line finally wrapped on something and cut off. Always figured big Stingray, but wondering if Jewfish might have been a possibility. No huge structure to hide in. Just a steady pull until it was over. opinion welcome. Thanks!

@richnorm
More than likely it was a Goliath. If you don't have the power to turn them they will just swim away just like they were never hooked.
