Sukkot is the happiest Jewish holiday. We live in huts, have parties, wave a lulav and etrog around and eat tons of food. What could be wrong with that?

King Solomon stars in the book of Ecclesiastes, which can get kind of gloomy. And we read it during Sukkot!

Hadara Levin-Areddy, a great Israeli singer/songwriter, connects the dots, singing about sadness, joy, and what's new under the sun.

  • This past sukkot, I picked up this book and read it while it was being read in my synagogue. Instead of seeing words written on a page, I vividly imagined what every line meant. I was amazed. The author (King solomon) brilliantly composed this book, and went into detail, as the song says, saying no matter how rich and famous you are (he says he's experienced it all-he was a king!), and no matter how much you own, you will never reach true happiness. Only G-dliness will lead you there. Thank you!

  • Lol that's so cute and the song's catchy :D

  • i love the cartoon and the song! I accidentally walked through a Hassidic neighborhood and there were these huts along the sidewalk and people selling those branches. I had no idea what was going on but it really seemed joyous. Only after I got home did I read up on what it was all about.

  • i like this song, my kids loooove this song, Yeshua and YHWH bless this sukkot! :)

  • what a fantastic video. i have got the book of ecclesiastes and proverbs on my ipod. it has really helped me. especially ecclesiastes. if anyone wants this to put on their ipod i would recommend anthony scourby: the shaekspearean actor who reads it perfectly and professionally, emphasising all of the words perfectly. try listening, it may help you, and bring you closer to God, who is the God of the Hebrews, who through grace we have access to, through Jesus Christ. what a wonderful thing.

  • Hi everyone - my son loves this video. We also made a fun Sukkot video this year at EyeOnZionTV - check it out on our channel below this comment. Let us know how you like it folks. Chag Sameach everyone.
