AMPnyc Deluxe Animation was hired by Wieden + Kennedy agency to make FAT ALBERT-style promos for ESPN's NCAA coverage in 1998.
We knocked out five spots and a bunch of miscellaneous graphics in less than 6 weeks! These were a bear to produce- but worth it for such great clients.
Temple, Duke, Coach K, UCONN Huskies, Dick Vitale, Coach Gene of Purdue, Coach Jim of Syracuse, U of NC Chapel Hill, all were fodder for these clever spots.
My personal fave is the 'phone conference- Coach Gene's reaction to getting Vitale in on the teleconference makes me laff everytime!

Ah, these are wondeful, I wish a network would have the balls to do something like this again. What a great change from the normal "robot" spots look. Which...I still don't really get.

Holy nostaliga, Batman! I'm pretty certain these aired in the late 90's 'cause I remember being in 9th grade and seeing these commercials, especially the one with Coach K wearing that disguise. Arguably one of the best college hoops promos ESPN has ever done. Kudos for finding this rare gem and getting up on YouTube!
