  • Of course there are people who should NEVER have a cervical adjustment with a rotational component and that is why chiropractors are trained for FOUR YEARS! They would be the first to say that not everyone should have a certain kind of adjustment and they know many techniques for these patients. Also it is very rare to find a PT with training even close to that necessary to be as safe as a chiropractor is. Chiros dont hurt people because they are specialists in these methods. Never fear Chiros.

  • @kevinharriet12 I don't think anyone is denying anything. The bottom line is that research has been done, and while not 100% conclusive, it's about 99% positive that no SMT taught in an accredited school will cause a stroke. Noone has claimed SMT can't break a rib/transverse process in elderly (real risks associated with SMT), but they are saying there is nothing more than heresay to validate the stroke claim.

  • Chiropractors are idiots. I went in for a hurt shoulder and now i have a bad neck and back.

  • I agree with an informed process for Chiropractic. We do it with medication why can't we inform people who use or are considering Chiropractic of the risks involved. Also I believe that each customer should also be given a list documenting education and training a Dr of Chiropractic has received. I know a Dr of Chipro with a High School diploma and 2 years of Chiropractic College. Dr??? Again this is mandated in Washington state for Therapist so why not Chiropractic?

  • I myself went to a chiropractor.I was 41 at the time.My basal artery was dissected, and subsequently a anerysm then a stroke to follow. I was not given the option to decide that this could of happened to me.Yes this incident might be rare but the emergency doctors are not knowledgeable to diagnose this. They say your too young or you have phycological problems. What is the matter with this picture?

  • I like how he compares the risk to medical procedures to classify it as small. An elephant is small compared to a blue whale, but the elephant is still big enough to crush me. Regardless, the risk of getting HIV from a blood transfusion today is something like 1 in 5,000,000. But I'm still required by law to inform you of that risk. Also, her outcome to treatment is not some "issue" that is seeking a law to protect against it, it's a damn STROKE!

  • Stop dangerous and fraudulent chiropractic manipulation. If at some point we have a real reform of healthcare, it will NOT be included.

  • Fact: Upper cervical manipulation can cause stroke.

Fact: 99.9% of stroke caused by manipulation (chiropractor or PT...let's not just pick on the chiros) comes from C1 on C2 rotational manipulation

Question: why can't we just accept the facts and find a safer way to manipulate the upper cervical spine instead of denying the risks? This is not about how many MD's kill people every year...they deal with really sick people, not just someone with a "crick" in their neck.

  • @kevinharriet12 Because chiros don't have formal specialties. Med school is still 4 years. Not 6-10. That's what specialists do. Neurosurgeons, neurologists, cardiologists, etc....

  • @kevinharriet12 You see, it isn't a 'fact'. If people "magically" had strokes after atlas adjustments, with any regularity, there would be a smoking gun. The 'fact' is, it virtually never happens. The 'coincidental' times it does is what we hear about. They happen so seldom, research shows it is no more common than someone going to an MD's office for.....anything (i.e., this is an office call, not surgical procedures, chemotherepy, etc.). No research has show a real relationship.

  • @murmur5555 No. My post was true and its info. published.

  • @chiropractic47 than why do chiros go to school for 3-4 years post graduate years and MD's 6-10?
