Gaffa was a liquid latex used in theatrical applications. Some folks confuse gaffa with the super sticky GAFFERS tape. Close enough for rock 'n roll I suppose. The image is having the experience of being caught in an imaginary or spiritual web-like situation. I don't suppose someone could literally find him/herself suspended therein, but if so, wouldn't s/he know the content of the suspension? The song is about desire & fulfilment, yes?
