*** About the Walk For Liberty

What are you willing to do for freedom?

Vote? Protest? Participate in a rally? Walk all the way across the country?

We are.

This summer, a group of activists will be walking across America to achieve more freedom and liberty.

Our pioneer forefathers trekked across the continent from the east to the west to find a better life for themselves. This time, we're doing it in reverse.

I am walking coast-to-coast across the country, from Oregon to New Hampshire. I am joined by my immediate family as well. We're on a quest to gain more freedom for ourselves and for our country by spreading the message of freedom and liberty along the way.

Why are we doing this?

We see the gradual chipping away at freedoms in America, and want to do our part to stop it. My wife and I are moving to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project. New Hampshire is already the freest state in the country, which is why we are moving there. But we also want to help bring more freedom to as many other people as possible.

Therefore we are walking across America to get to New Hampshire. We are walking all the way there to bring as much media attention and publicity as possible to two liberty-oriented causes: the Free State Project, which is working to make New Hampshire even more free, and Ron Paul's message of freedom for everyone. • Cops somehow forget that it is we the people who pay there frigging saleries. If you give an inch they will always take the mile!

  • "I think people should stop police to satisfy their curiosity if they want. "

I do it all the time for directions, or if I run out of gas & need a lift.

  • you should watch this video on google, google search for "Don't talk to police" and it should be the first one tha tpops up, it's from a lawyer lecturing a college I beleive about the 5th amendment. it's very comprehensive, sober and informative.

  • there are some laws out there which are annoying like "insubordination" which a cop might cite if you tell them to fuck off, but people shouldnt tell eachother to fuck off so I don't exactly call the aclu. However, if you don't want to say anything at all to a cop for any reason, you have that right, and if you ever get in court over it its your duty as an american to fight it until you set a national precendent. Its like the civic version of doing your laundry, nothing to complain about.

  • Well, it depends on what you call a social occupation. Definitively, a police officer is not a social worker.

Another issue is that how people can interact on a "casual" ground when facing a police officer? Police officers are not regular people.

Do people have rude behaviour when encountering each other? Yes, they do.

What about a guy who answers the police officer "carry off, no time for you. I am in a hurry"? (or worse of course) This happens often.

What do you think about that?

  • The public,, are they not society? Is not police officer a very social occupation? So if an officer works a ten day stretch the 4 days off are his only opportunity to interact with people in a less than professional manner? argue all you must but the idea that a cop can't pull over and say "Hey, whatcha doin?" is pretty asinine. Now if he pulls over and says "let me look in your back pack" then the 4th amendment comes up, until then cops have every right to chat with people if not otherwise busy

  • Fascist work ethic? Non believable.

Police officers are not socializers. They are here to represent the public authority.

I agree with police officers doing a lot of hours but not that much they cant socialize out of their work hours.

As to friendly police officers and abuse of power, there is no connection. You can have a cop who appears to be friendly and the day after abuse his power.
