The original track for this scene was replaced in the film with the pop version most people are familiar with. This is how the scene would have looked with the full original song included on the OST.

Edit occurs between about 1:00 and 2:15.

I did some finagling to keep in as many of the sound effects as I could (nearly all during the middle stretch are gone), but neither audio track was edited for length. The video was not edited.

  • I like this one, but prefer the other, it gave the scene a more dramatic feel a point of reference being the haircut with the sword, both songs kick it up a knotch at that point but I really feel the other song does so with more power behind the feel of it. That's my opinion anyways.

  • WOW, that's pretty cool! Still, the pop version is FAR, FAR, FAR more POWERFUL!!!!

  • The end makes me tear up every time dammit >.< I have a girl that's close to me like a daughter and that's a gut wrenching feeling when your "child" is missing.

  • @princesssugarplumz what? who was being a dick?

  • I LOVE THE FRENCH HORN PART!!

  • Eh, this is nice and all, but the current version just feels much faster and more URGENT.

  • I do like this version it's pretty cool, but having been listening to the pop version since 1997 it's kinda hard not to prefer that one ^^

  • it's totally different than the EU version i know :O

  • Personally, this version of the song always makes me think of the mountain confrontation between Mulan and Shan-Yu rather than this part. It's still a great soundtrack though, especially towards the end.

  • I'm not sure it's accurate to call the final version a "pop" version. That almost implies Disney post-production tampering. Jerry Goldsmith is well known for using synthesizers in his scores (always to great effect). I don't think the track used in the movie is anachronistic, as it's not like the synths are being used to play "Everybody Wang Chung Tonight." Perhaps this should simply be called an "alternative" track rather than "original."

  • the part where the dad falls down in the rain is the saddest part in the whole movie. it always makes me cry

  • This version sounds more Chinese, and more warrior like
