Far from the frontlines, in Colombo's Tamil neighbourhoods, they know that the war in the north is almost over. The odds are stacked heavily against the Tamil Tigers.


But Al Jazeera's David Hawkins asks whether, if the government defeats the rebels, the problems that prompted the Tamils to wage a guerrilla campaign will be solved.

We have a choice. We can stop the war and enjoy peace and prosperity. With out seeing who is at fault, look at the root cause of the problem and solve it. Say NO to those who wants the war to go on. In war no one wins. Everyone loose. Last 25, 30 years, we did not learn any dam thing. We are so stupid even the animals may be laughing at us. Burn the differences and cherish the similarities and the country will be once again become the pearl of the Indian ocean.

I can't beleive tamils here in Toronto. As a minority we here have social issues. There is social inequalities that effect us right here in Toronto. These Tamil Tigers honestly beleieve Canada will go fight for them and get them their land. Tamil Tigers blew up Rajiv Ghandi organized other attrocities too many to count. There are so many Sir Lankan tamil gangs that are dangerous and ready to kill. Look at how they behave outside of Sri Lanka. It's easy for tigers to talk in Canada.

The Caste system is the Jewel of India. The dalits in India are the menial laborers of the upper class. The slumdogs and dalits are the lowest of the low and krishna will grant them no mercy. Are the Tamils primarily of dalit caste? The tamils in Sri Lanka appear to be less educated and lower income.They appear to be a filthy loathesome people and krishna will grant them no mercy.

By the way, tilliecove, you underestimate the resolve of President Rajapakse and General Fonseka. The Army is increasing its strength to 400,000, making it roughly 3 times as big as the British Army. Also. Do you know of Black July? in '83? Where the murder of 12 soldiers sparked the riots that left so many Tamils dead? Is that what you want? I hope not. Stop looking for military or terrorist solutions to this problem. Try and find a solution which can be achieved without violence.
