@dac186 , Well anyone that is dumb enough to stick their hand in the machine while it's spinning is either a total klutz or deserves what they might get.
lid switch is cake to fix. done it several times without any problem.
to test if it's actually the lid switch that's broken, disconnect the little plastic doohickie after popping off the top of the machine (it's easy. ) find a insulated wire (from an old lamp or whatever) trim both sides so you can see the wire - then shove them into the plastic thing your switch was plugged into. avoid the green wire. (should look like a U when done). plug the washer back in, and check. It should work now.
Respond to this video... you have to dis-assemble the unit carefully in order not to break some small parts inside especially the plastic ones, be sure that you had your unit unplugged before servicing it.
@undergroundbasement I suggest that you'd better do a little research on your washers model and look over the net on how to do it, or better call a qualified serviceman to do the job.
@lst1195 FWIW, it's a safety feature so you don't put your hand inside while it's spinning, get caught on something and twist your arm off. Never stopped me as a kid from actuating the switch with a screwdriver though and putting my hand in while it spun.
Thank you for this video. I had the problem and thanks to you I knew how to take apart the washer and buy the part and fix it myself. Again, thank you.
I have a Kenmore 90 Series Washer, the best washer I've ever owned, it has more cycles and features than I've ever seen, the tub WILL NOT SPIN, the agitator will spin but not the tub, an appliance parts store told me most likely its a bad lid switch, I'm trying to do the repair my self but want to make sure what part I need before I start taking pieces apart

Wow...that's over my head! It shouldn't spin any slower. do you have a good connection between the wires?
