Wow, I love both versions! I think MrSeeker77 covered all I could have said. Powerful vocals, Tina has. MB's version sounds a bit lighter and perhaps more modern. I'd happily listen to either. No matter what, people are going to compare. They're both great vocalists with loads of talent, just super different. Why do people feel the need to hate on either?

I find it both amusing and aggravating that peeps are baggin' on either version. Preferences are one thing but c'mon people, both vocalists have major talent, there's no sense saying one is better than the other. Like all good music, whether you like it or not is academic.... in the end, it's the artists' own interpretations. As for those who outright put down either, well, let's see your vid response. Let's see YOUR talent beyond the armchair and the keyboard!

I think the difference between Michelle Branch and Tina is the difference between a fine, smooth brandy (Michelle) and Bourbon (Tina). Tina has more power than any other female singer out there, but this song is more of a light and breezy jazz type of song, which, to me at least, fits better with Michelle's voice. I like Tina's version, but LOVE Michelle's.

I didn't know Tina sang the song first! Wow! Why did they go with Michelle's version to be released? I think the original would've won that Grammy too! smh

Wow, a much different key from Michelle Branch's version. Haven't listened to Tina Turner before, so MB's version is still my favourite.

she is my Godness !!!!! :-)

I thought that gregg alexander from the new radicals wrote the song and even has a video that he sings it on youtube
-
i wonder why they didn't launch both version to the market at the time and let people decide

tina's version sounds like an oldies style of game of love song.. hahahaha!!

Actually this is the original. Michelle Branch was put on the song later. The song was made for Tina and that is why it sounds as such. Dopeness! Much respect Ms. Tina!

Tina was the original singer of this song ¡¡¡
Queens come and go -- there's only one Tina Turner," Santana told The Associated Press. "I love Michelle, and she did a great interpretation of it. It's just that with all honor and respect to Michelle, there's the girl and there's the woman, and Michelle is unfolding into a woman. ... but it takes time to go from a girl to a woman."
He says Tina's version is still his favorite.
"No one can hit a note like Tina Turner," he said"
