After you beat Norman, go back to Mauville City, then talk to the Electric Gym Leader waiting outside, he will give you a key to go to NEW MAUVILLE to shut up the generator. When you complete the mission, he will give you a TM Thunderbolt. The pokemon in NEW MAUVILLE are: Magneton: Rare Magnemite: Common

its good to battle everything you come against for 2 reasons
1. good leveling
2. you can experiment on using different attacks on different pokemon to find weaknesses
