  • This is quite similar to one of the minuets in Bach's Anna Magdelena (sp?) notebook. Have you compared them?

  • No, I need to get the complete notebook somewhere, I wonder if Handel ever saw them. tkmoore

  • So, what posessed you to build a harpsichord anyways?

  • Hi, I play the steel string guitar and piano and wanted a quieter, easier to tune keyboard that would sound a little bit like my guitar. My piano takes a long time to tune, but I can tune the harpsichord pretty fast, it only has four octaves, with one string per octave. tkmoore

  • Is it a 4'or 8' instrument, single

    or double strung?

it sounds beautiful in any case! I have started a clavichord but I am interested in making a harpsichord as well at some point....

  • I guess you would call it a 4' single strung harpsichord. I built it without a plan to use steel guitar strings. It uses plastic from yogurt containers for plectrums . I am going to put up some close up photos of it soon. tkmoore

  • i listen to this over and over again!

  • I'm impressed. I just love that sort of creativity, and your playing is *just right* for actually dancing a minuet. It's two years on from posting the video, and I hope your instrument is still going strong.

  • Wow! Bravo for building a harpsichord (spinet)!!

  • Better late viewing than never. Beautiful! My spinet doesn't sound as nice. Nice to know come the apocalypse that talented folk like yourself will be able to fashion harpsichords from the junk pile. Lovely playing too by the way!

  • Wow, you must really have a good ear for building this instrument. When I first saw it, I was not expecting much for sound. Your 4' sounds really good. Amazing that you could use guitar strings.

  • Amazing,I put the sound on my stereo, and I could even hear the fingers on the keys. Great work. Keep doing more!

  • Fantastic. By my ears this is a very nice sounding instrument! In a pinch, I too have used yogurt container plastic for plectra. Nice playing as well!

  • I want the plans too !!!

Which jogurt brand gives the best plectra ?

    great play, anyhow
