In this episode of NCIX Tech Tips, Linus will take a look at how much money you could have saved from your energy bills by switching to an OCZ Z-Series 850W 80 Plus Gold certified power supply from a older non 80 Plus certified power supply. You'll be amazed how much you can save and the time it takes for the power supply to paid off itself especially in area like California where energy rates are rocket high. Enjoy!

  • dammit i live in california! :(

  • This is a slightly modded case, but the window is stock. It's a TJ07B-W.

The only key changes I've made to mine are front grills, black powder coated interior, and some cable management holes.

  • Now...80 Plus Platinum!

  • @GungraveZ1 As far as I know, there's 80+, 80+ bronze, 80+ silver, 80+ gold, and now 80+ platinum, and each one is obviously more efficient than the previous one and you will see a difference in cost throughout the year, even if it's only a few dollars.

  • Rodin Coil

  • Yep it's important whether it is bronze or silver

Btw linus can you do a 80+ platinum guide too.

  • I was wondering, is it any 80 plus, does it matter if its gold or bronze? Someone right back, thanks :)

  • AX 850 ftw!!

  • I live in Puerto Rico. We pay a whopping 27 cents kilowatts per hour. A high end PSU matters to me.

  • linus was so young

  • @CJBSLinker hmm i think mines just about to expire its on its 5fth birthday and with the recent addition 990fxa gigabyte ud7 i think i may have killed the psu
