@dtimm612 Thanks for the info man - brilliant playing for that!

hey i just learned to play this by ear. ive seen the sheets but i play it completely different than them. it does say to play a Gmaj at "(asked them to) DANCE". but it sounds like you are playing a Emin (GBE) with a G bass note. i think your chord is correct. did you learn this by ear? if so, you hit some nice notes in there. would be better without the LP in the back + your own vocals

thanks. "My life" is the first and only other Billy Joel song I learned. I know it well but it's a simple version but still sounds nice. Actually I've played it so many damn times it doesn't sound nice anymore.

AWESOME JOB IM GONNA TRY TO PLAY IT

lol pretty good eyes!
I use to have just about every song memorized from that book, but this is the only one I still remember start to end. I'll have to re-learn some more

How could you tell? ;-)
DGX-640
Can you recommend it?

@69supafly I don't have experience with that one in particular, I think mine is the 500 something series, but I can say I wouldn't recommend the one I have. The key action sucks, it seems like the keys are very slightly narrower than a real piano which makes it harder to play. The speakers are very underpowered, the black keys are much more sensitive than whites, there is NO output jack (only headphones), etc. The 640 looks like it has weighted keys so at least that's a start.

God Billy Joel is talented! Good job, I enjoyed it. I have been taking piano lessons for about a year and am learning a simple version of allentown right now. I have to work on getting my notes to fall on the tempo, if I said that correctly.

Most Joel stuff is out of my league, mostly his early stuff. Some of it sound so hard I haven't even attempted them ("Root Beer Rag" comes to mind). The double hand technique on "Streetlife Serenader" also is beyond me. For some more easier songs to play try "Moving Out", "My Life" or "She's Got A Way"
