Jose Carreras performs Agnus Dei from "Misa Criolla" by Ariel Ramírez. The Misa, a mass for tenor, chorus and orchestra, is based on folk genres such as chacarera, carnavalito and estilo pampeano, with Andean influences and instruments. It is also one of the first masses to be celebrated in a modern language. Ramírez wrote the piece in 1963-1964.

  • Gives you the pimples Heavenly voice and the Southamerican music Makes my day

    Thanks for posting !

  • I have this DVD and it's my treasure. I love it! Taking in mind that it was one of the last recordings he made before he was diagnosed. And after that, he returned in triumph! Thank you Lord for giving him back to us!

  • Jose at his best....wonderful x

  • Thank you so much for posting this and sharing it with who ever cares to listen. it is so moving . .

  • Egyszer nekem is megadatott elénekelni ezt a misét a nagykanizsai VEGYESKARRAL a Los Andinos kísért minket! Csodálatos szép elődás a művészúrtól! Ez egy csoda, szívbemarkoló az előadás!

  • I have just seen him sing in Carcassonne and I can't even bring myself to tell people how fantastic it was as every time I think about it, it makes me cry!!! He touches something so very deep inside of me when he sings - I am very grateful to him for sharing his enormous gift - for me, the best tenor ever.

  • It may seem strange to use the word sincere when talking about a singer but Jose Carreras sings this as if it is his very own prayer. Placido Domingo on the other hand sings it like just another song. Carreras certainly deserved the standing ovation and I am sure that for some who understand the words it would bring them to tears. Not being religious, it's the way Carreras gets something accross to people like me that brings tears to my eyes. His sincerety makes me believe that he believes.

  • heaven ....... on earth.......

  • Jose is wonderful in this, and whoever was coughing in the background was hopefully beaten for interupting such a beautiful piece of music.

  • And Carreras does something so special with it, quite unbelievable. Carreras at his very best.
