Increasing offshore drilling, while raising our oil production slightly, will do nothing in the long run to get us out of this "crisis." Good, keep the gas prices high. We need to learn to live without it. Better to be weened off of it now than face an energy crisis later because we've been forced to ignore alternative energy while we continue consuming most of the world's oil and only producing 3% of it. I'm sick and tired of depending on other countries for fossil fuels and letting assholes like OPEC have their way with us. It's time to say goodbye to our petroleum addiction.

Why did he vote against drilling offshore? Because our addiction to oil is no reason to destroy an ocean habitat. Oil is going to eventually run out. But our environment will always be here.
