This is another of the candid videos from a recording session Richard and I did for guide tracks for my forthcoming Scottish album.

How it works- I record my rough vocals to Richard's guitar so that the other musicians can use the track as a guide for their input- clarsach, backing vocals, djembe, double bass and accordion. Then I rerecord my vocals and Richard masters it all.

:)

Mum filmed this session because I need the recording evidence for college.

Wild Mountain Thyme is a song by William McPeake, a Belfast man, but has often been sung by Scots as well.

  • @martinmaniad35 Thank you for that. How are you doing the songs? A cappella or do you play or have a band?

  • Great voice - great song

  • @RevolutionaryBrewer wow thanks! It is a good song and thank you for the compliment on the voice. :D

  • Lovely version :)

  • @DivineSinners Aww thank you so much. It is the guide track only but am so pleased you like it. I am about to actually start from scratch as I now sing this totally differently and am going to do it as a duet with Richard, my guitarist. :D

  • Hi, brigid-thanks for the note. i've been doing programs for seniors for quite a few years now. i do old country, celtic, gospel and some french. i mostly do the programs by myself, though i do have a group that i formed-"Rusty Nails" which is a bluegrass group. my "workhorse" is a HD35 Martin acoustic that i have beat half to death! :) keep in touch!

  • @jgrahamsmith175 The music's McPeake's, but his lyrics are based on 18th century Scottish poet Robert Tannahill's Braes of Balquhiddder (I'm neither Scottish nor Irish, btw):

    I will twin thee a bow'r

    By the clear siller fountain

    And I'll cover it o'er

Wi' the flooers o' the mountain

    Let us go, Lassie, go

    Noo the simmer's in prime

    Wi' the flooers richly bloomin'

    Wi' the wild mountain thyme

    A' the moorlan's perfumin'

  • @Cyrloud Thank you! :D

  • very nice, i like it
