  • Yes, the main reason I posted this was because of Bill Bruford and his drum solo. Kazumi is an excellent guitarist as well. I recorded this off of tv many years ago, I think it came off of Bravo, not sure, it has been so long ago. I have the entire concert on VHS and I now see it was re-released many years later on DVD.

  • Amazing musicians are amazing no matter what time period and no matter what style or instrument. I do find it fascinating that the drumset was born out of vaudeville as a cheap way to have a percussion section and what look what came of it! This is a fantastic bit of video, thanks for posting.

  • OK - where has this gem been hiding?

Very melodic Bill, and of course 100% original.

  • sound orribleeeeeeeeeee!

  • Nice!

  • amazing video.

Im not into drum solos that much but this one is amazing. The guitar by Kazumi is also mega cool.

    thnx for the post

  • Nice post my bourbon. I've been listening to Kazumi since "Lonesome Cat" days. Even have some vinyl of Watanabe. And Bruford ? Can't get enough. On another "note" I wonder if there are any music posts on youtube without the ever popular Wile E. Coyote comments? I'm thinking no.

  • Right, Kazumi is no Holdsworth. I saw Al DiMeola and Kazumi at the Mt Fuji Jazz Fest in 1993 on stage together for one song ... Spain. That was written by Chic Corea who was also playing with his Elektic Band that night. Too bad Al didn't play one with them, but Mike Miller was great just the same..

  • Bill was one of the few drummers willing to take technology and meld it into his particular music style without a flinch to what traditionalist might consider of drumming.

This is an amazing video displaying not only his talent for really odd time signatures but his natural inhibition to immerse his playing with as much color and timbre as he could! BTW nice playing by Jeff Berlin and Kazumi!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • @Zeld1122 are you from ?

  • The import DVD is excellent.

  • Power trio...to say the least. Bill Bruford one of the most intelligent drummers of all time. Jeff Berlin a true bass master . Kazumi Watanabe 1st time hearing his name for me seemed good but no holdsworth or Beck.
