A trend? I would say that taking a police baton beating is hardly "in" this season.
As far as them being liberals... Most of the damage was done by anarchists: the ultimate conservatives. Get your facts straight. And instead of protesting the DNC, they chose to consolidate their efforts. However, they have not left Obama unharassed, look at videos from the G20 in Pittsburgh. They're even worse than these.
