Except Frank Reynolds called Jastrow 'Dr. Goddard'. Jastrow's crater trick is pretty good.
CBS had Leo Crupp, who knew everything about the hardware, so he was their coup. Cronkite was pretty good at absorbing info and regurgitating it in real time.
Robert Jastrow was a very well-known astronomer ("Red Giants and White Dwarfs" is still a good read) and ABC had a real coup in having him as a commentator. In general, both ABC and NBC did a far better job with the science and technology than did CBS. For some reason people associate these missions with Cronkite, who really was out of his element and did not have recourse to people like Jastrow. Professor Jastrow died last year at the age of 83.
