Dana master DAN 2026-A-3, rec. New York, autumn 1948.
Four unknown singers and [or including] Frank Gallagher with orchestra probably directed by Władysław Daniłowski.
Sorry, I just had to share with you what I think might be the most horrible christmas song ever written. After leaving Poland, where he led the legendary Chór Dana, "Dan" Daniłowski immediately began to establish a new musical imperium in the USA. For some reason Polkas were en vogue in the late 1940s, and with his Eastern Europen background Walt Dana, as he now called himself, had no problem with delivering the product. I find it hard to believe, though, that this was not, as Iggy Pop once said in an interview, "a very polite way to say 'F**k you'".
I don't think this song is so bad. In fact, I found it rather entertaining.
