  • Sounds like "Peakin' At The Beacon" may have been better had it been recorded a year earlier than it was. Pearson is waaaay underated, and I adore DT (who is in an entirely different bag), but I think Jack meshed w/ Dickey better, and I think Jimmy Herring meshed better w/ DT than Dickey did. Anyway, they are all (including Warren) master guitarists, and taste is taste, but guitar playing ain't no competition- it is different voices all finding their own way to sing the song of what we call God.

  • @DarkeningSkies1 I have a totally fantastic JP Blue Sky solo here on the computer from 1998 @ the Beacon, perfect sound quality, from a radio broadcast they did that year. It's unbelievable. Wish I had some video to put with it. Man, what a treasure these recordings are....

  • Also, five years after I uploaded this, I still get the biggest kick out of the Duane licks that Jack pulls out @ 2:57... perfect way to show respect. Love it.

  • Just discovered Jack recently.....I have to say this is incredible playing. Amazing technically but played with total soul. I don`t think there are many players who could `scare` the likes of Carlton, Ford, etc, but Jack certainly would.

    Awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @overdrivesdl agreed! None better...

  • I mostly agree to the consensus! but may I say that perhaps, jack's amazing solo could have left a little more room for the Master of Southern Rock Guitar: Mr. R. Betts, who's song they happen to be playing!

  • @anthonycrystal33 This is jack's solo out of the song... Dickey followed with another 4 mins of doing his thing...

  • I'm with you all the way ... Jack any day over Warren ... love Jacks slide too perhaps even more than Derek ... whose non slide playing is for me his very best !

  • How to get serious on a guitar 101 . Jack Pearson is the professor .

  • jack pearson is so inspired and so inspiring!

  • Besides the Stonybrook and Warehouse live recordings and the live performance with Dickey and Warren in Germany, this version is in the same stratosphere with those just mentioned. What a great solo by Pearson, who deserves much greater recognition.WAY BETTER THAN DEREK.

  • Are we really talking about what's what? Jack's amazing.

  • @anthonycrystal33 please...

  • @anthonycrystal33 The reason most people don't know Jack's name is that he always made other people look good and play better. I would bet this was an over the top DB performance an not the user fare.. Do you hear all the great ideas he just teases you with but then doesn't jack off with? Thats the guy he is and why in Nashville he is so revereed.
