This is a song I finished a couple of days ago but relates to events of 43 years ago.............. where does all the time go?

I pointed out the stars to you
all you saw was the tip of my finger
you were leaving me behind
I opened up my heart to you
you only kept your distance
But don't pay it any mind
I realise we both were young
about life we were still learning
do you think of me at all?
My memories of you are strong
for me there's still a yearning
but I don't expect your call
I remember you from Cottingley
the place the fairies made famous
seems like another world
I would walk for miles to see you
in the cold Yorkshire winter
you were once my special girl
