An analytical video which compares the arcade version with the Super Nintendo version, and proves which is ultimately the better fighting game.

All of the facts are completely true, and you can try it out for yourself if you don't believe me!

  • Yes the point below is great, game depth is important.. and is sometimes overlooked. BUT let's stick in the realm of killer instinct here. There are hardly any "hardcore" killer instinct players anymore. The "AVERAGE" person that plays killer instinct is def not going to notice any gameplay difference between the arcade and snes version. I've been playing for years and didn't notice.. until this video. But the graphics are obvious of course.. If you only play occasionally, go for the arcade..

That is true, hardly anyone plays KI at a high level anymore. KI was alive and well during the its first 3 years in the arcades (various local scenes), was VERY active during XBAND, and then disappeared into total obscurity for a few years until emulators and Zbattle came into existence. KI on ZB got very fucking huge for a few years, and attracted many old and new school players. ZB had MANY high level players, but even then it only lasted a few years..

That's why I do Muay Thai now.

  • lol @ most people choosing graphics and sound over gameplay

  • Still, graphics means a lot on this.

KI arcade felt like a forbidden fruit, while snes was flat.

Even the infinite (almost) combo's felt like something really special.

Who of you guys remember when two projectiles hit, you could see the sparkles drop down to the floor in a 3d matter?

  • Dude you're wrong i say arcade still is better and why psx version

  • I like the Arcade version. The SNES version is okay and all, but it felt kind of watered down. Hardware limiations and all. Alot of the Fatalties in the SNES seemed watered down and awkward as well.

  • Arcade version hands down I own the aracde version on mame! It's way better then the snes crappy version! Bibtendo should of waited to release on n64 it would have been way better!

  • @TOOCRAZII2HANDLE You don't know shit about KI kid... trust me....

  • I'll also add that it's a lot more fun to dig at the SNES version for bugs than it is the arcade version. Sure, you don't have a lot of high levelers these days on an ancient title, but it is fun to mess with it every once in a while and see a 'lol' happen in front of you every so often on the emus.

  • I'd have to agree with the assessment here. Graphics aside, you could tell where the polish was placed after they ported the arcade version. I actually started with the SNES version 15+ years ago and eventually moved to the arcade version of this and 2 out of interest. I could tell where the positives were in either much like this was mentioned here. Finding bugs in the arcade version versus the SNES version as well as the overall feel tended to sway a lot better towards the SNES variant.

  • @redeyedol Hey you stop right there mister! Why aren't you doing BOTH things? I certainly find time to do both. Not to keep on EVO/SBO levels, sure, but at least to keep in shape enough to destroy scrubs. You should try it sometime.

  • @redeyedol You're welcome, son.
