Rodrigo Martinez - Jordi Savall Hesperion XX
El Canconero de Palacio

Rodrigo Martínez
a las ánsares, ¡he!
pensando qu'eran vacas,
silvávalas, ¡He!

Rodrigo Martínez,
atán garrido,
los tus ansarinos
liévalos el río
¡ Ahé!
Pensando qu'eran vacas,
silvávalas, ¡he!

Rodrigo Martínez,
atán lozano,
los tus ansarinos
llévalos el vado.
¡ Ahe !
Pensando qu'eran vacas,
silvávalas, ¡He!

  • Hm, it's old Spanish, and there are a few things I am not sure I'm getting 100% correctly, but let's give it a try: "Rodrigo Martinez, He wistled to the geese thinking they were cows Rodrigo Martinez, so gallant took his geese to the river, hey ! and thinking they were cows he whistled at them, hey ! Rodrigo Martinez, so attractive took his geese to the river, hey ! and thinking they were cows he whistled at them, hey !" ... So silly!! A goose herder??? :D

  • @morenauer Thank you! It sounds fun anyway :D

  • @morenauer what's so funny?

  • @medievalx1 Now that I check it again, I see a couple of mistakes but nothing too big, though.

  • @morenauer would you mind giving me a total translation? I realize it is about a gooseherder who moves up to cowherd status (or is it goat?) but I don't know all the words. If it is not too much to ask.
